To help fuel development, venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has created a $100 million 'iFund' to support new companies developing the next generation of applications for the iPhone. Kleiner Perkins partner and fund manager John Doerr said he's particularly interested in funding applications in health care.
My husband, a physician, has never owned a cell phone. Yet almost he and many of the residents in his program either have a iPhone or plan to buy one in the near future once carriers other than AT&T begin to offer it. I've run into several doctors with them in the last 2 weeks. So Kleiner is onto something...maybe the Tablet PC will never gain mass appeal in healthcare settings.
