Cielo MedSolutions was a healthcare software and medical IT company striving to improve the quality of patient care with SaaS and IT services offerings. Their clinical quality management software was developed by top primary care physicians at the University of Michigan Health System Department of Family Medicine (UMHS).

Following a technology transfer from the University of Michigan in 2005, Cielo MedSolutions was formed. In 2007, Cielo turned to Clarity Quest’s healthcare software marketing experts to increase awareness of their products and services among primary care physicians, independent physician organizations (IPOs), and hospitals.

Launching & Growing

As a healthcare startup, Cielo had a great product and loyal clinician users, but sales were staggering and limited to the state of Michigan. They needed national outreach to primary care clinicians.

Clarity Quest performed a complete website redesign to enhance the perception of the Cielo brand. The new website included smoother navigation, clear calls to action, and educational resources.

Getting Discovered

In addition to refreshing the website design, we also optimized Cielo’s site to make it more accessible and visible in search engines.

Interestingly, the company that acquired Cielo — The Advisory Board Company — found Cielo’s website via a Google search for patient registry system companies, which was one of our SEO key phrase targets on the new Cielo website.

Reaching the Right Audience

As part of an educational outreach campaign, we used print and direct mail newsletters, case studies, efficiency results, and email marketing to build an engaged audience. Our emails reached thousands of physicians each month with an open rate approaching 20%.

We also created and utilized marketing collateral, messaging and positioning, and healthcare public relations to support sales and business development efforts.
