Create a Successful Corporate Blog

By February 6, 2012No Comments

With the ever-increasing correlation between a flourishing online presence and a successful business, corporations are taking drastic measures to optimize their online existence. One simple, efficient, and economical way to grow your online presence is by creating a corporate blog.  Corporate blogs are an incredibly effective way to form a relationship with the current target market, expand your consumer base, express your company’s authority, increase website traffic, and optimize SEO to ultimately grow your business. In order to create a thriving corporate blog follow these following tips:

1. Recruit writers: Whether you are a small business or a mega conglomeration, you need to find and recruit talented writers to create content for your blog. You can do this by making a rule that each employee has to commit a certain number of hours per month to blog material, or hire young interns and task them with writing for the blog. Either way, it is vital that you have multiple writers to guarantee that blog content comes from a range of perspectives and fulfills the interests of a variety of consumers.

*Try this: To incentivize writers to put their best efforts forward, have a weekly contest awarding the top blogger of the week. The winner can be highlighted in the company’s internal newsletter, or rewarded with a prize of the boss’s choosing.

2. Find a Leader: It is crucial that blog contributors have one person to turn to for all blog related questions and concerns. One employee or writer must be appointed the head of the blog in order to ensure the blog runs in an organized and timely manner and that all writing is up-to-par.

3. Create Content: Content is the backbone of your blog. Write about topics related to your company’s industry, but do not be afraid to step outside of the box. For example, if you are a strategic marketing company visit  you can write about marketing tips as well as industry news, PR advice, and local business events. With regular, insightful, and well-written content, you will gain visitors who will value your content and share it with friends. Add at least one new blog post per week so visitors will have a reason to continue coming to your website.

*Try this: Add videos, pictures, and other media to your posts when applicable to entice visitors with visual appeal.

4. Market Your Blog: There are thousands of ways to promote your blog on the internet, whether it be through use of social media websites, paid-search advertising, e-newsletters, press releases, or forming relationships with other bloggers. It is vital that you set aside a decent amount of time to blog marketing or else the effort you put into the blog will fall to the wayside.
