The Best Google Tools for SEO

By June 16, 2011April 15th, 2019No Comments

Have you decided to utilize search engine optimization to get your site organically ranked at the top of Google results pages, but aren’t sure where to begin? Choosing strategic and impactful keywords can be a tough and critical step in your SEO campaign, but Google has a few easy to use tools that can help you get the most out of your SEO efforts.

Google Keyword Tool:

Choosing the right keywords for your website and content is one of the most important steps in SEO. When you enter a keyword or phrase in the Google Keyword Tool, you will be given many important statistics. First, Google will give you the level of competition for your keyword and all search phrases containing that keyword. Google also provides you with the number of monthly searches, both globally and locally. The Keyword Tool can be used to efficiently choose phrases you can utilize to enhance your organic SEO or your paid search campaign.

Google Correlate:

Google Correlate allows you to enter a keyword into the search bar and will provide you with other words that often appear with your keyword in Google searches. Google then shows you a timeline depicting when these two terms are most likely to be searched for. Because some terms are more popular depending on the year or season, Google Correlate can help you determine which keywords are the most relevant at specific time periods.

Another convenient feature that Google Correlate offers is the comparison of search terms across all US states. For instance, if you want to know where people are searching for your desired keywords, Google Correlate will show you which states have the highest volume of searches containing those words. This can be especially helpful in providing insights into whether or not your keywords are geographically specific, which can help you find where your target audience is generally located and improve your positioning strategy.

Google Trends:

By simply typing in one or more search terms, Google Trends can provide you with valuable data pertaining to specific search terms and phrases related to your company’s product or service. This can be particularly helpful when creating new content. By including popular, trending words, you can be sure your content gets maximum exposure to the appropriate audience. Because Google Trends shows you a timeline revealing when the search terms are trending, you can strategically place popular keywords throughout your content in order to increase your organic search rankings.

Google Trends has a geographic organizer component as well. By allowing you to select the country you would like to view results for, Google can provide you with more region-specific data. For example, if you select the United States, Google Trends will show you which states and cities have the highest search volume for your desired search terms and phrases. Determining when and where people are using keywords in search engines is an invaluable insight that will improve your content marketing strategy.
