Embrace Chaos Before Brilliance

By January 12, 2014No Comments

My 9-year-old daughter loves fortune cookies.  We usually read them, laugh, and toss them out.  But I saved mine from last night and taped it to my desk.

Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos.

Wow.  How true that is.  Exceptional results be they in music, art, or business often have rocky starts.  In my hot yoga classes, the instructor often lets us know it’s OK to get “messy”.  Messy leads to thinking differently.  Messy leads to innovation.  Messy leads to success. Very difficult problems force us to find very innovative solutions.

I used to freak out at the beginning of new client engagement when the client had tons of inherent problems or when our team felt overwhelmed by everything that needed to be addressed. Now I welcome it.  Seek out chaos.  Because it’s your chance to be brilliant.
