In marketing, patience is a virtue

Rich Sheferen, President of Strategic Profits, posted the following in a blog post…

“MARKETING ISN’T A CAMPAIGN…IT’S A COMMITMENT!!!”
It’s a commitment to a relationship.
This relationship will leave your prospects and clients better off than before.
And, it’s your job to continually convince them that you’ve got the chops to do it.

I absolutely love this quote as it captures so many elements vital to successful marketing:
1. Patience – you must form a marketing plan and stick to it. I see too many companies who want to cut marketing budgets or pull the plug on campaigns before they have time to really work. Same with trying to get great organic rankings on search engines – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
2. Relationship – marketing is all about forming close connections with your prospects and customers, not about fancy glossy print ads. Get your customers to TRUST you.
3. Overdeliver – Exceed expectations at every turn.
